Hunger remains a critical issue in Minnesota, affecting families in every county. What began in 1981 as a Metro-wide initiative by the Greater Minneapolis Council of Churches has since grown into a state-wide campaign to restock food shelves and raise awareness about food insecurity. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, food insecurity means that access to adequate food is inconsistent and limited by a lack of money and other resources. Households experiencing food insecurity report lower quality, variety, and desirability of food, and may also face disrupted eating patterns and reduced food intake.
Food insecurity exists in all 87 Minnesota counties, with the highest rates in Mahnomen, Ramsey, Beltrami, and Blue Earth counties. Now in its 44th year, the March Food Drive remains a crucial effort to support community members in need.

Why Your Support Matters
Every donation makes a difference, and thanks to MN FoodShare, every pound of food donated will be matched, doubling your impact! Additionally, financial donations allow us to purchase the most-needed items efficiently. Just $10 can buy almost double the food when purchased through our food shelf. Your generosity ensures that individuals and families in our community receive the support they need.
